After making romantic comedy entertainer movies like Dhee, Ready, Namo Venkatesha now director Sreenu Vytla came with high volatage action drama with Prince Mahesh Babu in lead role which created more high hopes on this movie, Achanta Gopinath, Achanta Ramu and Anil Sunkara who are earlier produced Namo Venkatesha with high technical standards producing this movie and also Mahesh Babu's brother G.Ramesh Babu prensenting this movie and For the first time Music director Thaman S joined with Sreenu Vytla for Dookudu movie.

Story:

Story starts in 90′s where Shankar Narayana(Prakash Raj) is a kind of man who lives for people. He always to do good for people and he wants his son Ajay(Mahesh Babu) to follow his footsteps too. One day Kota Srinivas Rao who was being threatened by Prakash Raj to stop his illegal activities has murdered Prakash Raj and Satyam(Rajeev Kanakala) his brother with the help of some of Shankar Narayana team members. The story moves to today. Mumbai is threatened by Nayak(Sonu Sood) who is most wanted criminal and Don. Suman who is commissioner has been assigned to catch Nayak but he fails to catch him. Then comes the introduction Ajay, who becomes Police Officer and he will be assigned to Nayak. He catch one of his main team member but Nayak kills him in the jail and the Ajay and his team are suspended.

But Ajay and his team will decide to catch Nayak’s brother who he thinks will be helpful to catch Nayak. He will get information that his brother will go to Turkey, Istanbul to meet his girlfriend. SO they go to Turkey to catch him. There he see’s Prashanthi(Samantha) and will fall in love with her. He will mistake her as Nayak’s brother girlfriend and will start a fight with her and will be mean with her. But later he finds out that she is not the one they are searching for and then again he follows her to gain her love. Prashanthi is fashion technology student who comes to Turkey to participate in a fashion competition but will tell her father Nazar who is Ajay senior officer that she is going to Delhi for writing IAS exams. In this process Ajay and his team will find Nayak’s brother and Ajay kills him and Nayak will come to India to avenge his brother’s death.

Here comes the twist, Shankar Narayana will be in hospital alive but will be in coma all these years and he doesn’t know anything about what happened. He still thinks that his son is a politician and all his team members are safe and his brother Satyam is alive too. Then Ajay with the help of Padmasri (Bramhanandam) who is greedy for money will make a drama to make his father believe everything he thinks was right. The rest of the story is about how he makes his father believe? How he will take revenge of his father’s killers?

Performances:

Mahesh Babu is the first name we should be talking when comes to performance. He has rocked the show and he has repeated the magic of Khaleja once again with his timings and one liners in the movie. His looks are dashing and his comic timing is awesome. Costumes are really good. He performed really well in the scenes with Samantha and Prakash Raj.

Samantha didn’t have a very big role but she has excelled in what she have. Her looks will make all the boys go gaga over her. She is really stunning in the songs. Chinmayee who gave her dubbing in Ye Maya Chesav also gave dubbing in this movie too. He dancing skills are really good. She has performed her magic again in the movie.

Prakash Raj has given an superb performance as father of Mahesh Babu. He was really carried away by the character and all I can say is that he has done 200% justice to this character. Sonu Sood who has given a extrordinary performance in Kandireega has done the same amount of justice in this movie too. He will be seen listening to old ANR, NTR songs and listening to Bhagawadgeetha in the movie which is very hilarious.

Bramhanandam played the role of Padmasri who is greedy and he has rocked the show again. He performance in the scenes in which he thinks everything that’s happening around him is a reality TV show is really hilarious.

Vennela Kishore as Sastri has given a really good performance. He might be our next Sunil in the industry. He really have a good future and will surely give many more great performances in the coming years.

M.S.Narayana has given another Solomon Raj like performance. His spoofs as Ntr in Yamadonga, Ram Charan in Magadheera and Balakrishna in Simha is really extrordinary. He nailed it. He is the highlight for the second half of the movie. Dharmavarapu Subramaniyam has a small role but he has done a great job in that span of time.

Tanikella Bharani, Nazar and Chadramohan have given great performances in what they have and have to be appreciated.

Parvati Melton has done the item number “Poovai Poovai” in this movie. Looks like she is working out a lot and has became thin. Her looks are great in the song. The movements in the songs are good. But she kinda lacked the item girl effect. But she has done a good job in the song.

Srinu Vytla has done an excellent job. Even though he opted the old routine story , he has shown the difference in making as he did in his earlier movies. Without much violence and with excellent comedy, he lived upto the promise he made to Mahesh fans. His comedy timings in the movie is really awesome. Sentiment part is good in the movie but he has made it little lengthy. Even though he dragged a little in the second part he had made it up with the comedy track and you will really laugh out your lungs.

S.S.Thaman has done an extrordinary job with the music in this movie. He has given some really great tunes for the movie and Srinu Vytla has done a brilliant job by picturizing the songs more beautifully. The camera work in the movie is awesome. He has done really awesome work in the songs and fights. Kona Venkat has done an extrorodinary job with the dialogues. Comedy lines and the punchlines in the movie for Mahesh are really great.

Techinical Department: K V Guhan who did already worked in Mahesh's movies like ‘Naani’ and ‘Athadu’ is handling Cinematography and Dialogues by Kona Venkat is good, Thaman's background music is okay and Four songs would be highlight on the screen and the action part will be loved by the masses. Thier is special attraction of the film is an item song by Parvathy Melton but its not so impact on film as choreography is average.

Analysis : Watch Dookudu with out any comparison with Pokiri movie and its full action drama based entertainer movie it has having all the elements action, romance, comedy and sentiment in this movie. After being in the news for over three months, superstar Rajinikanth's Rana is finally falling into place. The first look of the film has been official released and as expected, the actor strikes your eyes with his new avatar.

Rana will kick-start today with a formal puja at the AVM Studios, Chennai. A huge set has been erected by art director Rajeevan for the opening shot. It is said that a romantic song on Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone would be shot on the specially designed set.

Announced earlier this year, Rana will be a live action magnum opus with Rajinikanth playing a triple role and will be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Along with Rajini, the film stars Deepika Padukone, Ileana D’Cruz and Sonu Sood.

Speaking about the film, KS Ravikumar said, “Rana has a strong story, a very interesting ensemble cast of actors coupled with super star Rajinikanth in a triple role and promises to have some stunning visual effects that will surely take Indian cinema to the next level.

Mr. Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International Media Ltd added, “It is indeed a proud moment for us and we are very excited to be a part of this ambitious project with Rajinikanth, one of the most popular actors of all times. We are expecting this to be a landmark film for all those associated with this project”.

The music for the film is being scored by A R Rahman, director of photography will be Ratnavelu and editing would be done by Antony. The technical director is Soundarya Rajnikanth, of Ocher Visual effects UK, a subsidiary of Ocher Studios Pvt Limited, and Charles Darby of Eyeqube Studios, renowned visual effects luminary and an Emmy award winner, is the creative and special effects director on the film. The film is scheduled to release in FY 2012.

Eros International along with NextGen Films, will produce the film through Rana Production Ltd., UK.

Allu Arjun's forthcoming socio-fantasy film Badrinath's audio will hit stores on May 8. The makers of the film are planning to release the audio at a grand function in Hyderabad on the same evening.

MM Keeravani has scored the music for Badrinath. It has five songs for which Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry, ES Murthy and the music director himself have penned the lyrics.

Badrinath is directed by VV Vinayak and produced by Allu Aravind on the banner Geetha Arts. It also features Tamanna Bhatia and Prakash Raj in the key roles.

After giving a blockbuster like Pokiri in 2006, Puri Jagannath got his name included in the top directors' list. His immediate next films Desamuduru and Chiruta too were successful and gave him a hat-trick.

But his films Bujjigadu, Ek Niranjan, Nenithe and Golimaar remained average flicks. Now, he has come up with a different film, Nenu Naa Rakshasi with Rana Daggubati and Ileana D'Cruz in the leads. Let us see what he has to offer.

Story:
Sharpshooter Abhi (Rana)'s father gets killed by a goon (Abhimanyu Singh). His mother, who is injured badly during the attack, is in coma. In order to provide costly treatment to her, Abhi turns a professional killer. He not only kills people for money but also tries to eliminate goons while searching his father’s killer. Meenakshi (Ileana) works in a coffee-shop and she discreetly uploads the suicide videos on the Youtube. At this juncture, he falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Abhi’s mother dies in coma and Abhi disgusted with his life decides to commit suicide. He contacts the website and asks the person to come and videograph it. After Abhi reveals his flashback and stabs himself, he realises that the person who was shooting the video is none other than Meenakshi. Realising that he could live for her, he pleads her to admit him to a hospital, but she refuses and leaves him to his fate. After that the police officer lays a trap and tries to arrest Meenakshi, but Abhi saves her. What happens next should be seen on-screen.

Performance:
Rana's character in the film did not suit him perfectly. He should have chosen a Gopichand kind of artiste for the role. Moreover, Rana has failed to shake his legs for all the songs. Ileana has got a meaty role in this film and she has done complete justice to her character. She got an ample scope for her performance and has reached the expectations. Subbaraju is another notable artiste, who has excelled in the role of a police officer. Nagineedu and Abhimanyu Singh are loud and their characterisation is also very poor. Ali has done a routine job and Mumaith Khan is okay as a cheat.

Technical:
As far as the story, there was a gossip that Puri Jagannath was inspired by a Hollywood flick May I Kill You. But it is not totally a copy of the movie. In fact, some parts of the film are identical. Camera
work is good and the cinematographer has captured the beauty of Venice perfectly. The chase and action scenes are also okay. Puri, who took the responsibility to provide story, dialogues, screenplay and direction, has literally failed to do justice to any of the department. Especially, the characterisation of the villains is poor and the screenplay is abrupt. Moreover, the narration of the film is also very slow and has failed to appeal the audiences. Editing has lots of jumps and as a whole, the film remained just an average flick. Especially, the climax is so abrupt and very weak.

Remarks:
Watch the film for Ileana and nothing more. Rana’s attempt to prove himself as a commercial hero is badly failed and he should wait for some other director to give him the necessary break.

Final Word: After watching the movie, anyone would wonder about why this film was made? There is no purpose for it. Suicidal tendencies are a strong sensitive subject and the director makes a mess of it. He should have done good research and made this movie on a small scale to justify the subject. Making a movie on sensitive subjects without any purpose is waste of money and time. Don’t waste your hard earned money on this movie.

Mr Perfect Movie Review – Mr. Perfect Review – Mr. Perfect Rating, Telugu Movie Review: Prabhas who bagged a decent hit with his previous film Darling is back again with the same genre of film Mr. Perfect. It is a brand Dil Raju film targeted at families and female audience. Let’s get into the details in Mr. Perfect review…

Story:

Vicky (Prabhas) is a guy who wants to live his life according to his wishes. When his parents fix his marriage with Priya (Kajal), who Vicky feels is a complete mismatch to him. And he rejects the proposal. He finds another girl Maggie (Taapsee) who is identical with his character. But her father (Prakash Raj) says that he is not a perfect groom for his daughter. He challenges that he can impress none with his character and ideology. Vicky takes up the challenge. But does he succeed in it? Find the answer on silver screen.

Analysis:

Mr. Perfect is a film that is developed on a single point that we have to see that everyone around us is happy rather making ourselves happy. Like every Dil Raju film, this one too preaches about the family values and human bonding. Although the basic idea is good the film failed on the execution part.

There are not many heart touching scenes in the film. Every character compromises at one point or the other. Realizations, discussions, relations, experiences… this forms the screenplay of this movie. Everybody gets into preachy mode all the time and bores you to the core. Situations are forced and therefore the film lacked soul. We hardly find any scene which is at least near to ‘perfect’, leave alone perfect.

Saying so, it is for family audiences who don’t mind watching same old dramatic scenes time and again. If you are game for clichéd formulaic films, then Mr. Perfect is just for you. If you are looking for freshness in theme and characterizations then two hours boredom is guaranteed.

The film falls short on comedy aspect too. Brahmanandam and Raghu Babu try too hard to make you laugh. The protagonist’s arguments about a perfect life are pretty confusing. He actually compromises every time but people around him say that he has not compromised and was correct! Phew!!

Another biggest drawback is the pace of the film. It is snail paced and lacks energy. Scenes during the climax drag with too many conversations. On a whole, Mr. Perfect has too many defects. Only the formulaic presentation and family drama should help it to sustain at the box office.

Performances:

Prabhas performance is fine. He did his best to pull off a character which is low on energy. Actually, this role didn’t suit his persona. Prabhas is best when he is active and energetic. Uttering pages of dialogs and using less muscle isn’t his forte. Kajal looked good in few scenes and bad in few. Inconsistent makeup is the main drawback. Her performance is good though. May be she is getting typecast these days.

Taapsee is Okay. She dubbed in her own voice. Prakash Raj did this type of role in every alternate film. He looked bored. Murali Mohan and K. Vishwanadh scare you every time they open their mouth. They keep on preaching moral values of life.

Brahmanandam is routine and Raghubabu is loud. There is nothing much to say about the remaining star cast.

Tehnicalities:

None of the songs are good on ears. Devi Sri Prasad’s tunes lacked novelty and energy. Background score is partly good. Editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh is standard. Cinematography by Vijay Chakravarthy is fine. Dialogs written by Abburi Ravi are good in parts. One can notice that he is just rephrasing Trivikram’s dialogs.

Director Dasarath once again failed to recreate his Santosham magic. This film is heavily inspired from many hit films and Dasarath simply relies on formulaic scenes and content to score a hit. This film doesn’t do any good for him as there is not a single scene that has shown director’s brilliance.

Plus Points:

- Family drama
- Few entertaining scenes in the first half

Minus points:

- Boring screenplay
- Preachy dialogs
- Dragging second half

Final Word: Mr. Perfect is a clichéd film which is targeted at holiday crowds. It might work on the commercial front but the content is very poor. Go for it if you don’t mind watching same old family drama yet again.

Till date ‘Teen Maar’ stands for its record number of opening theatres. Exactly this is where Allu Aravind is to target now. If reports from close sources of Geetha Arts are to be believed, the upcoming highest budgeted flick ‘badrinath’ will set its eye directly on ‘Teen Maar.’ Yes, Allu Aravind is doing enormous hard work to release ‘badrinath’ in nearly 1500 screens, a feat that could never be achieved by any Telugu movie in near future. Given the kind of hold Aravind has in distribution business, nothing seems impossible. The only question of doubt is, did Allu Arajun have the capability to pull these many number of screens? Can Stylish Star challenge Power Star’s power at BO?

Review

Story

Mahadevarayalu (Prabhu) is the central home minister who has a task at hand. He hails from royalty and they are entrusted with the job of getting the Rudrashoolam from Jackie (Jackie Shroff) since a pooja should happen on a particular eclipse day.

However, Fakhtoom (Pooja), an evil queen from Egypt has also got her eyes on the same weapon as she wants to conquer the world and avenge the death of her husband (Sonu Sood).

On the other hand, Mahadevarayalu has got his daughter Iswarya (Ileana). She wants to live a free life without any security so she escapes to have a holiday with her friends (Ali and others).

She is targeted by the group of Fakhtoom but in comes Shakti (NTR) as Iswarya’s guide. He protects her from time to time. Jwalamukhi, a divine diamond also involves in protecting them. However, Shakti has got a flashback and a connection with the Rudrashoolam. What is that connection? Who gets to win in the end forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

NTR Junior does his bit as required. Though he is lacking those high energy levels and powerful dialogue delivery, he carries off his role in a matured way. However, the etching of his warrior character was poor.

Ileana looks sexy and appeals in the songs. Though her costumes were not upto the mark, she contributes in the glamour department.

Sonu Sood was okay, though his role was very limited he manages to make his presence felt.

Pooja Bedi was artificial, Nasser looks powerful, Jackie Shroff ended up as a joker with his weak characterization, the actor who did the role of Raaka was brawny, Prabhu was okay, Ali was average, Brahmanandam came and went, Krishna Bhagawan brought few smiles, S P Balu was standard, Manjari was ok. The others didn’t have much to offer.

* Logical lapse in the backdrop

Final Analysis:

A good film with high budgets requires a strong team of technicians and effective execution of the plot. Here, the concept of the Sakti Peethams was appealing but then it takes material to execute the plot in the right way and bring conviction.

The responsibility of the director is to bring depth and feel into such storylines. For instance, the flashback episode dates back only 27 years back which means 1984. How can one expect people to come from Egypt with horses, have sword-fights etc during that year.

Another place where the Sakti Peethams are portrayed through library shots, what was the director thinking of? Saving some money? Well, that looked poor. There are many scenes where dramatism and high voltage of emotions is required but that was missing completely.

Except for one or two scenes, there is not a single scene which strikes a chord. Cinematic liberties are accepted but the director must concentrate on getting the audience to connect with his story first. After that, even if he shows something illogical, the audience won’t mind it. But right from the first scene, things have been stale and lacked any emotion.

At the box office, the openings might be good due to the star power and the hype about the budget but apart from that, the film is sure to fizzle out due to weak content.

The Synopsis

Michael Velayudham (Pawan Kalyan) who lives in Cape Town, South Africa, believes that human relationships are not rooted on long term basis. He is friendly with Meera Shastri (Trisha) and they spend time together without any commitments as such. Without any conscious effort, they become closer by the day. A time comes when Meera has to go back to India to attend to her professional occupation. Michael and Trisha decide to part ways and even throw a ‘break-up party’ to friends. Once Meera leaves, Michael feels lonely.Senapathy Sirjee (Raresh Rawal) observes the strange dilemma of Michael and narrates to him the story of his collegemate Arjun Palwai (Pawan Kalyan again) and his steadfast love story with Vasumathi (Kriti). How this love story of Arjun-Vasu that occurred about thirty years ago influences the mindset and attitude of Michael forms the rest of the story.

*Now the 3rd heroine, foriegn lady. fight and date, Trisha finds sonusood reliable pawan say he`s fine with foriegn one. Interval *First Half Report: A mixed bag with its share of a few good moments, but a very average fare. Trivikram punch is largely missing, 2 songs and a few scenes of arjun palwai were good.

Gopichand, Deeksha Seth starrer Wanted under the direction of B.V.S. Ravi, has hit the screens world-wide today. Gopichand, who is not in the success form off late is looking for a good break with Wanted. Let’s checkout if Wanted puts him back in the success track.

Story

Rambabu (Gopichand) is a happy going guy with his loving parents. He falls in love with a house surgeon Nandini (Deeksha Seth) when she saves his mom’s life. Rambabu chases her for his love and at times saves her from goons. He asks Nandini, what he needs to do, to prove his love. Nandini asks him to kill Basava Raju (Prakash Raj), who killed her father (Nazar), an honest cop and her entire family. Rambabu finally goes after the goons and kills Basava Raju.

Performances

Gopichand has done similar kind of roles, good number of times and it’s time for Gopichand to take special care on scripts and avoid films like Wanted, which has a routine stuff with thin storyline. Deeksha Seth is certainly the USP of the film with her enough oomph and looks. She did reasonably well to her role, but needs to improve interms of acting to make it big in Tollywood. Prakash Raj is perfect as villain but it’s another regular role for him. Subbaraju is apt, Ahuti Prasad, Chandramohan, Jayasudha and Nazar did their justice to their roles. Brahmanandam generates few laughs and Ali is ok in his limited role.

Technical Aspects

Director B.V.S.Ravi has comeout with a regular routine predictable storyline without any excitement. Wanted lacks freshness and uniqueness. Cinematography by Rasool Ellore is good, where the film has some picturesque locales in songs. Shankar’s editing could have been much better. Chakri’s music is average with a couple of songs standout.

Analysis

Wanted is a regular routine predictable revenge saga without any excitement. The first-half of the film moves in a hope, looking out for good second-half. But the second half disappoints you terribly with a small, predictable flashback in the lines of Kalyan Ram’s Athanokkade. Watch it if you are a die-hard fan of Gopichand and Deeksha Seth’s admirer.

This can pretty much be confirmed from the fact that her next film would be with none other than Aamir Khan (yet untitled film which also features Kareena Kapoor) which could well be a coming back full circle for Rani whose first major film was with the actor in GHULAM.

What would she do next? Would she tie the knot or continue acting? One never knows.

But rest assured, she would have an innings defined for her on her own terms.

She may be the tiniest of all, but she does stand tall even after 15 years.

Noted Telugu filmmaker EVV Satyanarayana died of severe cardiac arrest at Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad on Friday night (January 21). The 56-year-old producer, who introduced Pawan Kalyan to the silver screen with the movie Akkada Abbai Ikkada Ammayi, was suffering from throat cancer. Recently, he was admitted to the hospital after his health condition went critical. However, he is survived by his wife Saraswathi and two sons Allari Naresh and Aryan Rajesh.

EVV Satyanarayana debuted as a director with Telugu movie Chevilo Puvvu in 1990 and later got more than 15 films to his credit. The movie Premakaidi was maiden big hit in his career. Some of his much acclaimed movies are Hello Brother, Abbaiyigaru, Intlo Illalu Vantitlo Priyuralu and Maa Nanaku Pelli. He also made his debut in Hindi with Amitabh Bachchan-Soundarya starrer Suryavansh.

Satyanarayana became producer with the movie Chala Bagundi in 2001. He introduced his elder son Aryan Rajesh to films with Hai, but could not get thr expected success from it. Later, he launched his second son and actor Allari Naresh with whom he made hits like Kithakithalu and Bendu Apparao. Movie Kathi Kantharao, which is his third film with Naresh, was Satyanarayana’s last Telugu film.

However, the sudden demise of EVV Satyanarayana has shocked thousands of his fans and friends. With EVV's death, a vacuum has been created in the Telugu film industry which cannot be filled. Many noted Tollywood actors and producers have expressed grief at his sad demise.

Ranga the Donga review – Ranga the Donga Telugu Movie review: Century hero Srikanth is back as Ranga The Donga under GV Sudhakar Naidu direction. This is an out and out mass masala movie targeted at the frontbenchers.

Story:

Ranga (Srikanth) is a thief who lives in Stuart Nagar, Hyderabad. Sub Inspector Mangamma (Vimala Raman) falls for him in her very first look. Ranga has a special admiration upon factionists. In one dramatic situation some people take away Ranga to a small village located in Rayalaseema. They ask him to act and behave like Bhavani Prasad, who is a factionist and gets killed in one incident. Bhavani Prasad looks strikingly similar to Ranga and that is why he is brought here. How Ranga solves all the problems of those villagers as Bahavani Prasad concludes the story.

Analysis:

Director GV is known for doing villain roles. However, he took up direction as he is inclined towards making mass films. His first attempt Hero with Nitin was a damp squib. He took a small break after that film and started Ranga The Donga. Anyone who has seen Hero would expect GV to do a better job in this film. But sadly that didn’t happen. Ranga The Donga is worse than Hero in all aspects. The story has nothing great about it. Any amateur writer can pen this sort of story in few hours. The screenplay of the movie is pathetic at the best.

The director puts scene after scene just to fill in the 120 odd minutes to make it look like a feature film. Not a single scene is worth a dekho in this film. Srikanth should blame himself for picking up such film.

Performances:

Srikanth did his best to make this film work. But he didn’t get any help from any of the technicians or other star cast. Srikanth is desperately trying to turn a mass hero. He has definitely bettered himself in doing such roles. To be frank, he should stick to his family oriented movies.

Vimala Raman’s makeup and looks are cheap. No lady cop in the world dresses herself like Vimala does in this movie. The characterization of heroine shows the taste of director.

Ramya Krishna is Okay in her so called powerful role. The then charm is really missing in her. Telangana Shakuntala is usual. Jayaprakash Reddy is standard. Sakshi Sivanand sizzled in a special song.

Technicalities:

Chakri music didn’t help the course of the film. In fact his dumb songs worsened the woes of audience. There is nothing to rave about Poorna K photography. Gowtam Raju’s editing is not up to the mark. Dialogue and other departments failed to leave any mark.

GV direction is pointless. He doesn’t have any specific qualities that put him on a different league. He is just another run of the mill directors who tries to churn out formulaic films. He should know the basics first before putting others money at stake.

Story

mirapakai Rishi (Ravi Teja) is a cop working at a special intelligence cell in Delhi. Kittu Bhai (Prakash Raj) is an international mafia kingpin operating from Bangkok. Rishi goes to Hyderabad and joins a college as a lecturer. He takes the under-cover job of lecturer to trap Kittu Bhai through Shankar Anna (Kota) - his channel in Hyderabad. He falls in love with a traditional Brahmin girl Vinamra (Richa Gangopadhay). The rest of the story is all about his triangular love story with Vaishali (Deeksha Seth) and how he brings Kittu Bhai to book.

Artists Performance

mirapakai Ravi Teja made sure that his brand comedy and entertainment is intact. He is highly energetic in dances (especially the first song and the last song). Richa Gangopadhyay is fine as a traditional Brahmin girl. Deeksha Seth is okay as a haughty girl. Swati gave a special appearance. Prakash Raj’s screen-time in the movie is more like that of a guest artist though he is the main villain. Kota Srinivasa Rao is impressive. One doesn’t understand what Sunil is doing in this movie and he is cliched.

mirapakaiStory - screenplay - direction: Story of the movie is cliched as we have seen loads of movies of cop working under-cover in Telugu since Pokiri. One good thing the director has done is to reveal the cop part of it in the beginning of the film in-stead of showing it as a twist in the end. The director’s ability cannot be judged when one directs the movie of Ravi Teja. Ravi Teja takes over the baton with his entertainment quotient and gives story/screenplay a backseat. This movie is no exception. Direction is okay in parts.

mirapakaiOther departments: Music director Thaman came up with populist tunes in the movie. The songs are good though they are loud at times. Background music is good. Cinematography is average. Dialogues are nice at times. Editing is okay. Fights are neat.

mirapakaiAnalysis: The major story of the movie is revealed in the first 15 minutes and the culmination takes place in the last 15 minutes. The rest of two hours is dedicated to the love angle and entertainment. The screenplay that takes place during this 2-hour period is not properly done. It is a proven fact that Ravi Teja’s movies have scant respect for story and screenplay and majorly depend on the entertainment aspect. The entertainment is interesting in parts. We have to wait and see how Mirapakai is lapped up by the crowds.

Story
Golkonda High School is in the verge of extinction as the trustees want to make money since it is a good real estate property. Board’s Trustee Kireeet (Subbaraju) comes up with a proposal of turning the playground into a coaching center. Principal Viswanath (Tanikella Bharani) opposes to that proposal vehemently. Kireet then asks the principal to show results if he wants to retain playground. Viswanath comes up with the proposal that playground should be retained if GHS’s cricket team manages to win AP level league tournament. Principal Viswanath summons for his former student Sampath (Sumanth) - an idealist who leads a dejected life. Sampath joins GHS as the cricket coach and he has three months to convert the disoriented GHS cricket team of 14 students into champions. The rest of the story is all about how he coaches GHS team to victory and in the process how he is gets his redemption.

Artists Performance
Sumanth comes up with his career best performance as coach Sampath in this movie. It is an idealistic and inspiring character. Sumanth’s diction, expressions and body language suited it really well. Sumanth is the right choice for this movie. Swati’s role is not connected with the main story line. If she looked like a playful teen in her earlier movies, Swati is looking like a woman in this movie with sarees and demure performance. Subaraju has a towering screen presence and he proves again his capability as an actor with this movie. In all his earlier movies, Shafi used to dominate the character. He played this character within the boundaries in GHS and he is highly impressive. Tanikella Bharani is excellent. Ravi Prakash is authentic. Though all the seasoned actors performed exceedingly well, it is the kids who are stars of this movie. All the kids who acted as students are extremely natural. Santosh and Sangeet (both of them are sons of late director Sobhan Babu) have acted as Gowtam and Varun. Santosh’s performance is intense. Varun is very cute. Srinivas Sai (who acted as kid Nagarjuna in Kedi) is terrific as hot-blooded youngster. Farooq who played the role of Micky is genuine and effective. Lalith who played the role of sardarji keeper is very good with his performance. I don’t know the names of other kids. But the all the students are perfectly cast. The old man who did the role of attendant is perfect.

Technical departments
Story , screenplay - direction: The basic story is taken from Hari Mohan Paruvu’s novel ‘The Men Within’. It is an interesting novel about how a coach trains a pack of disoriented students (each student has different problems in their lives) and makes them into a winning unit. Mohana Krishna Indraganti has simplified the story enough to suit the big screen. He has also used the scenic order (screenplay) as written in the book. Mohana Krishna Indraganti is a learned filmmaker who went to film school. He made sure that he has stuck to the sensibilities while directing the movie. GHS is a neat work by the director but the narration should have been pacier. The screenplay should have been more tight.

Other departments: This movie is an example of how the technical team can complement the work of the director. All technical departments have coordinated cohesively to come up with a complete product where no department dominates the other one. Cinematography by Senthil Kumar is an asset. This is his second sports movie after Sye. Dialogues by Mohan Krishna are good. There is an interesting dialogue about ‘magatanam’ towards climax of the movie. Music by Kalyani Malik is excellent. Lyrics and music in Jaagore Jaago is inspiring. S Ravinder has come up with authentic work. Shravan’s editing is crisp.

Analysis: Ram Mohan (Art Beat Capital) who produced comedy like Ashta Chemma as his first venture made a brave decision when wanted to make an idealistic and inspiring sports-based movie. The credit for this movie should go to him. Because of the freedom given by the producer, Mohan Krishna Indraganti could able to come with a neat product. All the cast and crew complemented each other’s work. There is an underlying message in the movie to the parents and students. At the same time, the entertainment quotient is intact. GHS might not have regular commercial elements, but has enough content in the movie to make you glued to the screen. On a whole, Golkonda High School is a different yet enjoyable film. You may watch it at your leisure.

Director Prakash Kovelamudi’s fantasy film Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu has raised many expectations due to many factors. It is Walt Disney’s first South Indian film. It is promoted as the best ever graphical film made in Indian history thus far. And of course it marked the debut of daughters of two legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Mohan Babu.

Story:

Irendri (Manchu Lakshmi) is an evil queen who rules the teardrop shaped Anga Rajyam. All the people in that place will be leading a tearful life under the clutches of Irendri. There is a small girl named Moksha (Baby Harshitha), who has godly powers and she can only save those people from that evil queen. Even Irendri too needs that girl to become immortal. That girl is protected by a blind swordsman Yodha (Siddarth). Irendri uses every force and power to get Moksha but the latter is well safeguarded by Yodha. Finally Irendri herself gets into action. How the good wins over evil forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Actor Siddharth has justified his role as a blind warrior. The star has played the role of Yodha in a convincing way and has gone through the skin of the character with director choice. The kind of enthusiasm visible on Siddharth’s face is applaudable and explores the true actor in him. His hair style is also appealing and the toned body of him is a plus point.

Shruthi Hassan has carried the role of the princes with elegance. Her bare back costumes and her petite naval will appeal the masses the most. Her charm, brilliance and her expressions will definitely make the audiences remember her mother Sarika. Shruthi Hassan is immensely talented and she has a strong future ahead.

Lakshmi Prasanna, who is making her debut in Tollywood with ‘Anaganaga oka Dheerudu’, has succeeded in perpetuating her father’s (Mohan Babu) acting inheritance successfully. The lady excels in the character of a witch and she has justified the role with her perfection in performance. Her costumes and her figure are appealing. This married lady has a good chance to be a strong point as character artists in tollywood.

Music of AOD – Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu has been composed by the amalgamation of four music directors’ talents. The music and the background score suit to the theme of the movie.

Direction by the debutant director K Prakash Rao is excellent. The movie’s presentation must be applauded to the fullest and the special affects leave the audiences spell bound. Although, the movie is in the lines of a Hollywood project, some basic hindrances affect will leave the pot holes, to be discovered by the critics.

The movie has also some commercial elements which may appeal to the mass as well as the class audiences. However, on a conclusion note, one must accept that the movie will be appealing to the kids the most and will solely depend on the audience’s verdict, which will be out in a weeks’ time.

South Indian actor Siddharth Suryanarayan is doing a movie titled as “Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu”.

The movie is said to feature young actress Shruthi Hassan in lead and will also feature Manchu lakshmi Prasanna in a negative role.

Prakash Rao Kovalmuddi, son of ace director Raghavendra Rao is directing the movie and Walt Disney pictures are producing the movie. According to sources, the movie will have its audio release in December and will be released on sankranthi 2011(December 14^th)

Analysis:

First and foremost thing that an audience should do before watching this film is to shut off the logic searching cells of your brain. This is a fairy tale and we should not look for logics in it. Director Prakash Kovelamudi took up a daunting task of making a wafer thin line into a feature film. Fairy tales are tough to handle if they aren’t backed with a strong story telling technique.

The director needs to incorporate more and more thrilling scenes and various characters to make it engrossing. Sadly, Prakash Kovelamudi simply stuck to the basics and kept on canning similar scenes one after the other. The film falls short on emotional quotient and that has been the main drawback of it.

Every time a bunch of goons or some creatures come, the protagonist simply swings his sword and everything is safe and sound in the next scene. The Dheerudu is never tested to the core in the film, not even in the climax. Worst part of his characterization is making him blind without purpose. When he gets back his eyes before meeting the evil queen, then why the heck should he be blinded until then. Is this a test for Siddarth’s acting prowess or what?

Visual FX are stunning and without a doubt it is by far the best graphical film on our screen. That helps this film to win eyes but not hearts. To win hearts a film needs to be high on emotional quotient and has to involve the audience into it. AOD lacks soul and that will not help this film to conquer the box office.

Technicalities:

Soundar Rajan’s cinematography is excellent. Art work is brilliant. Graphics are awesome for Tollywood standards. Editing is fine. Music composed by four music directors is not so great. All the songs sounded similar. They are well picturized though. Background score is good but not up to the mark. Production values are superb. Every frame is a visual splendor.

Prakash Kovelamudi concentrated more on effects and didn’t work much on the script. If these visual effects are backed by a strong script then Dheerudu might have done wonders. However, his efforts should be lauded. He didn’t try to churn out a masala film for the sake of commercial success. Had he given more thought on the screenplay and filled the film with engrossing elements his efforts may not have gone wasted.

Anaganaga O Dheerudu is for people who are bored of watching run of the mill films. It will appeal to kids. But it doesn’t have universal appeal and that will not help the film’s prospects at the box office. You can watch it once for the stunning visuals.

Story:
A stale tale, the story begins with Chakradhar (NBK) who is a noted actor in the Telugu circuit and he gets into the skin of any character he plays. He also has a big fan (sheela) who tries to woo him and is in love with him. However, Chakradhar's mother (jayasudha) is not interested to see her son doing films and wants him to join the Indian army. The story takes a turn with the arrival of few army officers (murali Mohan and others) who meet Chakradhar and narrate the story of one Major Jayasimha (NBK again). In no time, Chakradhar gets into the skin of Major Jayasimha and changes his approach. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with an okay storyline and while the presentation was alright, the narrative required lot of improvement. The dialogues were good at places, the script was weak and had very few catchy moments. The screenplay was terrible. Background score was catchy and there are only two songs worth listening. Cinematography was the saving grace and gave a natural feel. Editing was average. Costumes were trendy while the art department looked fine. Yet again, Nandamuri Balakrishna infuses life into the two characters he played though it was not etched that well. His body language was strong and few dialogues got whistles and claps. Sheela gave visual feast as required and nothing more. Ameesha Patel was brief, Neha Dhupia was okay. Nagineedu made his presence felt. Jayasudha was effective. Murali Mohan was moderate, the comedy track between Brahmi, Ali and Hema was very tasteless and a bit vulgar. Raghu Babu and Krishna Bhagawan were not used to their fullest potential. Others were hardly there.

Technical:
Almost all the departments has failed miserably in this film. Music by Manisharma is totally outdated and almost all the tunes remind us of 80s music.. Though, the literary values in the songs are great, they can’t appease the present generation youth and mass audiences. The choreography of almost all the songs. The timing of most of the songs is also improper. The cinematography by Ramanaraju is also very poor as he could not conceal the age factor of the hero. It may be mentioned here that most of the senior heroes appreciate the cameraman for helping in showing them most glamorous. Editing is okay. It is Dasari, who has to take the entire blame as he is the captain of the film and he could not make use of any of the departments in his favour. Despite a gripping story, a senior director like Dasari Narayana Rao has failed to pen a perfect screenplay and has given a slow and disappointing narration all through the film. The dialogues are quite feeble and lacked the punch.
Analysis:
This film is opened with Bobbili Puli climax scene, where Dasari Narayana Rao tried to link this subject to it. However, Parama Veera Chakra is not a sequel to it or another version of Bobbili Puli. The film started off on a weak note and looked like a stage play in most of the scenes. None of the scenes are connected properly and every scene that shows Balakrishna doing various roles didn’t get well. Dasari took audience for granted by just placing scene after scene without any purpose. The spoof of Robo done in a separate track is painful than the actual story. It has only added to audience woes.

Conclusion:

The major flaw in the film is its weak narrative and the lack of depth in the script. Until the interval, there is nothing much happening except for few time pass sequences. The real story begins only in the second half and the climax could have been fine tuned in a better way. Overall, this is a film that might get few accolades for Balayya, thanks to his various get ups but success at the box office is not very likely. It will take some aggressive publicity and if only the comedy track was worked well, the impact would have been different.

The Telugu Film Industry has almost witnessed 115 straight Telugu films (more than 150 including dubbed films) in 2010. However, it has hardly single digit hits, few average to above average films and many disasters. Most awaited films of the year sank at the Box-Office. The success percentage of films has dipped down drastically this year with a series of big flops and the reports says that Tollywood has approximately lost 200 Crores at the Box-Office. Here is our analysis, Take a look!

2010 Hit Flicks

To be frank, Tollywood has not had its range of hits this year. Bala Krishna’s Simha is the only straight noteworthy hit to be talked of. The Yuvaratna received the much needed hit at the right time in the form of ‘Simha’ after many long years. The fans were quite happy to see their star back in form and the film had good collections at Box-Office.

Jr.NTR too was flying high this year with two decent hits,Adhurs and Brindavanam.Prabhas and director Karunakaran came up with a typical youthful love story Darlingthat was liked by the audience. Director Rajamouli has earned yet another feather in his cap with Maryada Ramanna in 2010. Unlike his earlier films, Maryada Ramanna has no star heroes and not a mega budget too, but had a new plot and good screenplay.

Unfortunate Disasters:

The list of debacles, this year is too big. Industry had high expectations on these, but the biggies failed with these complete no-shows at the Box-Office. Nagarjuna starrerKedi, Allu Arjun starrer Varudu, Dil Raju-Varun Sandesh starrer Maro Charitra,Siddharth starrer Bava, Mahesh starrer Khaleja, Ram Charan’s Orange failed badly and left tears for producers and distributors. Big names, high expectations, heavy budgets and much hype couldn’t save these films in making steady collections for the very first week too.

Low Budget Winners:

The big-budget failures have turned out as a blessing to medium budget and low budgets as the crowds showed their attention towards these films. Allari Naresh has created a niche for himself in the last couple of years. He is said to be one of the most bankable stars of all-time. His Betting Bangarraju, Katti Kanta Rao brought good profits at B-O. The Tamil remake, Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu turned out as unexpected success.

Critically-Acclaimed Films

Few films may not start up with great collections but they will indeed manage to gather much appreciation from the critics as well as the paying audience. Deva Katta- Sharwanand’s Prasthanam, Sharwanand starrer Andhari Bhandhuvaya, multi-starrer flick Vedam are such films. Sekhar kammula made a good attempt with Leader which showed the dark reality of modern day politics.

Prasthanam and Andhari Bhandhuvaya might have done well if the producers have concentrated on more publicity.

Prasthanam was a political backdrop film with the shades of human emotions. The lust and greed for power will lead a man to any extremity is the concept behind the film. Sai Kumar has put in riveting performance beside Sharwanad.

Chandra Siddharth of ‘Aa Naluguru’ fame came up with yet another inspiring and heart touching film Andhari Banduvayya. This strong script speaks about the human values and morals that reached to many hearts

These critically praised films had decent run at B-O.

2010 Lucky Actors/ Average Scorers:

Apart from other star heroes, Manchu Manoj is one of the luckiest actors of 2010 who came up with three films. He received success with Bindaas and Jhummandi Nadamand Vedam turned out above average. Naga Chaitanya scored his first hit withGautham Menon’s romantic entertainer Ye Maya Chesave. Comedian turned hero,Sunil received a good success by proving his mettle with Maryada Ramanna. Kajal Agarwal bagged two hits into her account this year with Darling and Brindavanam

Clicked Debutants

Amidst of many debutant ladies and many top heroines, Samantha needs a special mention this year. The gorgeous lady has become an overnight star with her debut flick and turned as heartthrob to many youngsters. Promising debutants Rana Daggubati, Richa Gangopadhyay and Priya Anand (Telugu) gave notable performances in Sekhar Kammula’s political drama Leader. Deeksha Seth, the former Miss India finalist, managed well with her performance in Vedam.

Dubbed Hits:

Dubbed flicks occupied a special place in 2010. Infact, the Telugu Film Industry faced heavy competition with Tamil dubbed films. It has been raining hits from Kollywood this year with Rajini Kanth’s Robo, Kamal’s Manmadha Banam, Karthi’s Awara, Suriya’sYamudu etc. Rajini Kanth, Shankar’s Magnum opus, Robo occupied tollywood’s throne this year, by collecting 47 crores at B-O. Looks like few roles are made only for Rajini, he just created magic on-screen as Robo. Robo has set a new benchmark for the special effects on the Indian screens. On the other hand, Rakta Charitra-1 (dubbed version from Hindi) impressed audience.
